All About Calico Critters!

Sweet, fuzzy Calico Critters. What is it about these miniature animals that’s had people of all ages and around the world loving them for generations? Well, a few things…

They’ve got history

Calico Critters have been around for over 30 years! They were first introduced in Japan in 1985 as Sylvanian Families, which is what they’re still called everywhere except for in North America, where they’re known as ‘Calico Critters of Cloverleaf Corners.’ What started as a line of animal figurines quickly grew to include homes, furniture and accessories. There was even an animated television series based on these tiny creatures that was created back in 1987 and aired on Nick Jr. in the U.S. in 1990. The reason for this growth? Calico Critters found their home in the hearts of children around the globe.

They’re adorable

It’s difficult to look at these little things and not fall in love, isn’t it? Calico Creatures are irresistibly cute. They’re made of special materials that gives them a uniquely soft feel that’s easy to love.

 

What makes Calico Critters even more loveable is the care and attention with which they’re designed, with incredible attention to detail that can be seen in the animals themselves, as well as their clothes, accessories and homes. Each critter in the Cloverleaf Corners community has a hobby and a job. They’re each members of a family that includes a mother, father, sister, brother and baby.

They offer endless ways to play
